Decorating Small Spaces - Sunday, September 5th

Lots of people live in a small home, a small room, or just a small space.  Small is beautiful - as well as practical and easy.  If you are wondering how to make the most of your small space, then join Ann and I for our next Design Class - Decorating Small Spaceson Sunday, September 5th at am.  In the meanwhile, here are some Brocante Home Tips for living in a small space:

1) Clear out the clutter
2) Open up the spaces
3) Use a monochromatic color scheme
4) Let in the light
5) Bigger (furniture and accessories) can be better!

They call me Mello Yellow....

This Fall's hot new color scheme is gray and yellow and we have it at Brocante Home!  Just got in a new shipment of hand-screened linen and down pillows in "gray, "corn" and "java".  To compliment the pillows, we now offer 100% baby alpaca wool throws.  And, if that's not enough, we also just unloaded a shipment of furniture made of re-claimed wood.  Ann and I have just re-arranged the shop with the new items and can't wait to see what you think!  Here's a sneak.....

Just in Time....

Authenic French Market Baskets are here!  Just in time for the next Irvington Farmer's Market!  These baskets are the original ones found in France at every market and brocante.  The French use them for everything and so will you.  And they are now available at Brocante Home.

Gimmee Shelter
We have so many kittens at the Northumberland Shelter for adoption, it was difficult to choose one for the blog.  But here she is....

"Sasha"

She is a young female and such a sweetheart!  Now is the time to make a difference and adopt!  The Shelter is open for adoption Wednesday and Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00 or call Fran Warren at 804-435-2597 if you can't make it during regular hours.  The Shelter is located in Burgess, VA and remember, you don't have to be a resident of Northumberland Co to adopt.  Their phone number is 804-580-6156.  Thank You!

Everything Old is New Again....

Remember this table?  I started to paint this at our Design Class, Introduction to Painting.

Here is the finished table - how cute is that?  Ann has already found a great space for it at her house.

Here too is another project I have been working on.  We inherited these chairs and later found out that they are called flame chairs and are in a "deco" style.  I always liked them and decided to have them re-upholstered in an Aidan Gray fabric that I had admired.

And here is the chair re-upholstered in our new line of fabric-by-the-yard.  I think they came out beautifully!  Where shall I use them???  To see more fabrics, stop by the shop.  We have many beautiful fabrics and now, custom pillows from this selection of fabrics.
